This message is going out to everyone on our list.  This is an important message regarding an announcement, as well as information on urgent issues and new changes.  We urge you to please read every detail as soon as possible.  This information may not be repeated or issued again.

 Urgent Issues of recent nature:

 ·         Windows Defender Error message:

o   Windows Defender was designed to expire in stages.  I’ve received many calls or emails regarding an error message of Windows Defender.  This message occurs because it expired and has not been updated.   It notifies you of this in the lower corner (system tray) but I have seen numerous people ignore this “update” message, and therefore the error occurs.

·         Windows OneCare:

o   Please DO NOT let your Windows Live OneCare expire!  If it is expired and you feel it should not be.  Let me know by posting in the section of my new support page for the topic OneCare.

o   Also, make sure you have the latest version of OneCare 1.5.  Open OneCare, and click on help and about.  You should see a window similar to the image below.  Make sure the version numbers are the same or higher.  If it does not, you need to uninstall (remove) the current your current version (add/remove in control panel), and download the latest version from www.onecare.com and re-activate using your original activation information.  If you DID NOT personally sign up for OneCare, and do not have activation credentials, let me know ASAP by posting to the new support page mentioned below.

 ·   Due to the flood of repeat questions, all questions need to be first posted on my new FAQ support page.  This is a searchable section that will allow people to search for and view other user’s questions, and the answers for those questions.  I am requiring each user to register before you can use this section, there is no cost, but by registering (takes less than 30 seconds) and using this forum, I can make sure no spam filters get in the way of posts, or replies!  And the questions and answers will be there for the world (registered for the site) to see.

As much as possible, this needs to be the first step now for support, before emailing or calling, unless it’s of urgent, business mission-critical nature.

Please remember this for future reference:

If you have a problem in nature of your system s slow, freezing, error messages, etc.  First shutdown the computer for at least 30 seconds, then turn back on before calling or emailing.  It may often correct the problem and get you back up and running.

  • Ø  DO NOT ignore any warnings from OneCare regarding “being at risk”.  Especially if this  is status RED.

Ø  DO NOT ignore any updates that the system alerts you to from the YELLOW shield, or via OneCare!  If you are not sure if the update is legitimate, go to www.windowsupdate.com and manually check for updates.  If www.windowsupdate.com comes back showing updates available (express is fine) then make sure you do them.

Ø  DO NOT forget passwords and usernames.  I have spent hours of time, when people don’t remember passwords needed for me to do a job.  Check out the support page www.neptronixcomputers/faq and you will find a password manager that is FREE to use.

Ø  When searching our FAQ page, you should type your search word in, then select “search for all terms”.  This will provide better search results to help find if any questions or answers already exists on our site.

Ø  Bookmark www.neptronixcomputers.com and visit the FAQ section often

Ø  DO NOT install or run more than one Antivirus program at a time.

This will be the last mass email providing information, updates, etc.  To receive further updates, need to know information, reminders, etc. from now on, do the following:

 1.       Visit www.neptronixcomputers.com and  www.neptronixcomputers.com/faq often.

o   Website will be updated with major overhaul during Feb.  FAQ page is ready!

2.       Install the new Neptronix Toolbar below:  Please post to our new FAQ page, if you download this toolbar.  There has been a problem detected with the auto update and we would like to know who has downloaded it so we can send a message only to toolbar users.  Thanks

o http://neptronix.homeftp.net:1212/Neptronix/Neptronix%20Toolbar/Neptronixtoolbar.exe

NOTE:  The toolbar has an auto update feature, so that as I make changes, you will receive the latest updated toolbar.  The toolbar also includes a new alert system, to help keep you informed.  The alert system is being worked on and should be ready by the end of the week.  Installing the toolbar now will auto include you in the alert system once they are available.

Many incoming emails and questions will now be handled C. Worland.  Please expect to begin receiving emails from cworland@neptronixcomputers.com  within the week.

This is optional but highly recommended.   This FAQ section is searchable, so that you can search to see if an answer to your question is already there.  If it’s not, please post your questions on this new FAQ page so that everyone may benefit, and also to reduce the problems with spam filters not getting to their destination.
